Work From Home / Worthiness, Forgiveness, Health ?
In Singapore, ‘work from home’ has been made compulsory for most of us since April, except of those in the frontline, delivery, food industry and so on. WFH became a very generic term since then. The first two weeks into it, many people felt recharged due to a long overdue break that they deserved some rests. And, two more months into it, people start to realize the rise of uncertainties, anxiety, unsettling in everyday life, and even home violence.
That’s when i feel that we need to relook at WFH, the how and to-do about it. I’m talking about Worthiness, Forgiveness, and Health aspects that we should look eye-to-eye at. Eye to eye, because it’s an honest conversation, between you and your family, or between you and yourself. Eye to eye, because you are worthy. There is a kind of mutual consensus about aligning oneself for more balance in these odd times. I’m not a guru and unable to share much wisdom. But, together with Wan Wen, Yeow, and Keneth, we have put up here with some of the lovely sharings by other inspiring people that we learned something from. And i think they help to remind about
\\ Worthiness
in understanding yourself
regardless of how little you think you are
or how little baby step you make towards a goal
\\ Forgiveness
to yourself and others
\\ Health
mentally and physically

< Lessons From The Himalayas > by Yoke Wen
I bought quite some books but i never really got myself some time to sink in and properly read through them, until the lockdown due to Covid-19. So i’m thankful for Covid-19 despite being incomeless for some time.
Here are some other readings that are shared with(in) us:
Book < The Power of Now > by Eckhart Tolle.
Book < Do Not Say We Have Nothing> by Madeline Thien.
Newsletters, or basically some writings, by Rebecca Toh.
Book < 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do > by Amy Morin.
Book < When Breath Becomes Air > by Paul Kalanithi.
Listening

The LITO Podcast.
The amazing duo Dan & Rebecca made their podcasts so enjoyable to listen to. Their synergy is pretty much Yin-and-Yang, that complements one another. By using Singlish, they bring relatable contents even closer to our hearts. I always tell my friends that my favourite episode is #27 – The Ultimate Happiness of What is. That episode, too, can be your first entry into the vast openness offered by Dan & Rebecca. P/s: Lito Labs also provides music channel in Spotify recently to journey a soulful company with you in WFH mode.

Financially Literature Singapore
I wish schools teach more about financial literature, about the fundamentals. And here is the podcast that might help you with that!
Breathing

In some occasions, we tend to forget about breathing… Because, we take it for granted.
(Left) Here’s my baby boy crying out loud and taking his first breaths. And at times, he reminded me of my mother who took her last breath in the hospital. Wan Wen and i occasionally said, maybe my mother brought him to us.
Breath, has techniques. And some practice of it, can complement with medication, and contributes to mental and physical health.
Check out this >> 3-part breath (dirga pranayama)
Breath, can have a form. “If you were to draw an image of your breath, it would look like a figure eight, not a straight line, because there is continuity as your breath flows in and out.” — Thich Nhat Hanh
Watching

This’s a painting < Christina’s World > by Andrew Wyeth. And it’s so captivating to look at. There is so much room for imagination, and space for feeling.
The Nerdwriter wonderfully did a video essay about this painting. You should definitely check him out in his Youtube channel. He brought interesting ideas with his interesting video essays about different movies, paintings, and so on. The things that he shared about might not be ‘essential’ to life, but i always feel that there are little wonders here and there that help us to appreciate the beauty of life and talents.
Johnny and Iz Harris are interesting couples who produce inspiring videos. And this particular story about Isolation is so relevant to us in the climate of social distancing.
Telling
Last but not least, you should definitely follow Humans of New York (Instagram handle: @humansofny ) for the amazing curation and sharing of stories from the streets.
Storytelling, is always crucial to spread values and humanity. Everyone can be a story teller. But good ones always live in the now wholeheartedly, and then tell stories.
And, i encourage you to share your emotion (good, or bad) with someone today. Let’s take our time in WFH and make it a soul searching process. 😉
